CACM Is Now Open Access
More than six decades of CACM’s renowned research articles, seminal papers, technical reports, commentaries, real-world practice, and news articles are now open to everyone, regardless of whether they are members of ACM or subscribe to the ACM Digital Library.
You too could have made curl
It’s inspiring to see people doing what they love for so long!

Thorsten Ball summarized a lot of good points when it comes to programming and being professional.
I like to think of them as the programmer’s commandments:
My favorite? “Make it a goal that people want to work with you”. There’s nothing better than working with people that you respect and get inspired by!
I’d augment the list with: do not follow instructions blindly, be curious.
Inheritance gone wrong
The most hilarious example I’ve ever seen of why you shouldn’t abuse using inheritance when programming on an object-oriented language. Now I know what to point people to when arguing about that hahaha.
